Privacy Policy — QuestMap

QuestMap ("the App") is operated by Martin Condet, registered as auto-entrepreneur in France.

The short version

Your quest data stays on your device by default. Cloud sync is optional and uses your own Firebase account. We do not track you.

1. Data Controller

2. Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device:

  • Quests (title, description, category, status, target date, location coordinates, country codes)
  • Photos attached to quests (compressed JPEG, stored in the App's documents directory)
  • Badge unlock records and statistics
  • Preferences (sync settings, selected filters, onboarding state)
  • In-app purchase/subscription receipts (managed by Apple)

This data is under your control. Deleting the App removes it permanently.

3. Optional Cloud Sync (Firebase)

If you enable cloud sync, quest metadata (title, description, category, status, dates, coordinates) is synced to Firebase Firestore using anonymous authentication. This allows cross-device access.

  • Anonymous Auth: We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication. No email, password, or personal identifiers are required.
  • Data stored in Firebase: Quest metadata, sync timestamps, deletion flags.
  • Photos (Explorer tier): Photos may be backed up to AWS S3 cloud storage if you subscribe to Explorer or Explorer Pro.
  • You can disable sync at any time in Settings. Disabling sync stops all data transmission.

4. Location Data

The App requests location access ("When In Use") to show your position on the map and help discover nearby quests. Location data is used locally and is not transmitted to any server. Quest locations you set are stored as coordinates in your quest data.

5. Analytics & Tracking

None. We do not use any analytics SDK, crash reporting, advertising framework, or user behavior tracking.

6. In-App Purchases

Subscriptions (Explorer, Explorer Pro) are processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store payment information.

7. Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all synced data from Settings. Local data remains on your device unless you delete the App.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, and port your data. For cloud-synced data, use the in-app deletion feature or contact us. For local-only data, it is entirely under your control on your device.

9. Children's Privacy

The App does not contain age-restricted content and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We will update this policy before shipping any features that change data collection practices and notify users in the App.
